knowledge . confidence . peace
Welcome and thank you for visiting me!
I am delighted you are interested in my services. I am a full spectrum doula, which means that I support women and parents with all of their reproductive needs from menstruation to menopause and beyond. Please take a look around my site to get an idea of the services I offer. If you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to send me an email using the button below.
My doula philosophy is that you are the expert of your life. My service to you is three fold: to support you with proven education/information, to trust your mind and your body, and to support you in your decisions.
Be knowledgeable. Be confident. Be at peace.
Peace. My name is Cami Jean and this is Rubi Jean. I birthed Rubi in late 2016. I had a birth doula who was extremely helpful during my pregnancy. However, I did not have a postpartum doula and I had a very rough postpartum period. These two experiences taught me first hand why having a doula is so important. As I did more research and talked to other moms I was educated on the lack of support for parents. It opened up a whole new world for me that I never knew existed. When I heard the philosophy that fighting for liberation starts with birth….I was delivered. I knew that I had the skills and talents to do this work. I was called to support other parents in navigating this very special but also challenging time of welcoming a new life into this world. As I journey through my doula work I’ve learned that being a doula is not just a profession, it is a way of life.
I have lived in Milwaukee for about 15 years where I earned my BA and MA in Africology (African American Studies) from UWM. I love to garden and grow vegetables and herbs. My experiences in research and evaluation, program and project management, and teaching have given me valuable skills that I transfer to my doula work. I also have experience in pastoral care, community organizing, and cooperative economics. I am thrilled to start this new journey where I see myself as both student and teacher. I am honored to do this sacred work.
